Distinguished artist Rosevart Sisserian awarded the Hamazkayin Medal.
On Wednesday August 6, 2014 at 7:00 p.m., the Hamazkayin “Lucy Tutunjian” Art Gallery launched the exhibition of painter Rosevart Sisserian in the presence of a multitude of artists and art-lovers.

Ms. Suzy Derderian
Ms. Suzy Derderian gave the opening speech in which she talked about Rosevart Sisserian’s impressive contribution to art in the education of artists and especially to the establishment and development of the Hamazkayin “Toros Roslin” Art Academy.
Sisserian’s paintings have their own unique quality and vividness, she said. Then, she noted that this exhibition, which represents the different stages of the Sisserian’s creative life, is organized to pay homage to the artist.
Ms. Nicole Harfoush
Ms. Nicole Harfoush, director of the School of Visual Arts at the University of ALBA, walked us through Rosevart Sisserian’s journey stating that her merit is recognized not only in Lebanon, but also in Armenia and elsewhere. She said that Sisserian’s works are real-life imagery with real and familiar colors.
Dr. Movses Hergelian
In his word, art critic, Dr. Movses Hergelian, noted that Rosevart Sisserian is one of the few artists who are unique creators by nature. He also walked the audience through her life journey mentioning how she had continued her higher education later in life after fulfilling her family and social duties, and afterward becoming a professor at the University of ALBA. He stated that Sisserian’s pedagogical contribution to the history of Lebanese art has been impressive.
Analyzing her work, Hergelian revealed that, in search of themes to paint, Sisserian hasn’t gone far from her immediate environment and her home. As an example, her themes have been the flowers she had taken care of. However, he said, through her creative life, the petals of these flowers have separated from the flower, and received form and hue, and started to flutter sometimes turning into birds. This way her works have reached abstraction.
Hergelian noted that the painting “LE MARCHE A BOURJ HAMMOUD” (The Market of Bourj Hammoud) depicts the old market with vivid colors and lines so the new generation can know Lebanon better. He also mentioned that Sisserian has donated entire exhibitions to the implementation of charitable purposes.

Mr. Hagop Havation
Mr. Hagop Havation, director of the Hamazkayin Art Gallery spoke next. He stated that in the last 5 years Rosevart Sisserian has had a permanent presence in all the activities of the Gallery. He thanked the artist who has always followed closely and has had fundamental contribution to the artistic activities of Hamazkayin in Lebanon.
In the name of the Hamazkayin Central committee, Havatian expressed gratitude to the artist, recognizing her contribution of many years to the development and growth of the community and especially in the growing operation of the Hamazkayin Art Gallery.
Mr. Havatian invited Mr. Megerdich Yapoudjian, vice-chairperson of the Hamazkayin Central committee, to award the Hamazkayin Medal to artist Rosevart Sisserian, who has with her high-grade art, distinguished title as an educator and benignity always stood by Hamazkayin, consequently by the Armenian culture.
In the name of the Hamazkayin Central committee, Havatian expressed gratitude to the artist, recognizing her contribution of many years to the development and growth of the community and especially in the growing operation of the Hamazkayin Art Gallery.

Finally, Mr. Joseph Abou Rizk, professor of aesthetics at the University of ALBA, congratulated artist Rosevart Sisserian valuing her merit and the mysticism of her artistic world.
The 22 paintings on exhibit are virtuous and heartwarming. They are eye-catching with their colors and lines; moreover, they are characterized by abstract expressiveness.
The exhibition continues till Wednesday August 13, 2014 from 9:30 a.m. till 6:00 p.m. on weekdays.
