A collective exhibition featuring the works of four Lebanese painters — Zeina Badran, Fatat Bahmad, Ali Chams, and Issa Halloum — opened at the Hamazkayin Lucy Tutunjian Art Gallery on 12 December 2013, at 7:00 p.m. The exhibition is being held under the patronage of H.E. Mr. Nehmé Tohme, Member of Parliament.
Mr. Ashot Kocharian, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to Lebanon, as well as a number of high-ranking state officials, artists and art lovers were present at the opening ceremony.

The welcome speech was given by Ms. Suzy Derderian on behalf of the Art Gallery’s staff. She said that with this exhibition, the Art Gallery concludes its activities for 2013. She also talked about the cooperation of the participating artists with the Gallery, as well as the presence of art lovers at the event. On behalf of the Art Gallery’s director, Ms. Derderian thanked MP Nehmé Tohme for sponsoring this exhibition.

Next, Ms. Lola Beuyukian gave a speech in English on behalf of the Art Gallery’s Committee. She said that in addition to being a renowned political figure and successful businessman, Mr. Tohme is well known for his contributions and donations to various cultural and charitable initiatives. In these domains, he has never shown any discrimination; all Lebanese demographic groups and communities benefit from his philanthropic endeavors.

Ms. Zeina Badran spoke next on behalf of the four participating artists, wishing the Hamazkayin Art Gallery’s leadership and Committee a successful future journey.

The concluding speech of the event was given by MP Nehmé Tohme. He praised highly the Lebanese-Armenian community, and particularly the role of the Armenian Parliamentary Bloc in promoting cooperation and dialogue among various Lebanese communities when it comes to proposing solutions to different issues. In this regard, he commended the influential role that the efforts of MP Hagop Pakradouni, the representative of the Armenian Parliamentary Bloc, had played in bringing about a positive solution and in establishing internal stability during the Lebanese National Dialogue Conference held in Doha, Qatar, in 2008 with the participation of rival Lebanese factions. Mr. Tohme concluded his speech by wishing the artists and the Art Gallery success in their future endeavors.

At the end of the event, Mr. Hagop Havatian, director of the Hamazkayin Lucy Tutunjian Art Gallery, presented a plaque to Mr. Tohme as an expression of the Art Gallery’s gratitude for supporting the exhibition.

The exhibition runs until 10 January 2014, every day from 9:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
