Next, Ms. Suzy Derderian, a staff member of the Art Gallery, presented the artist’s biography in Armenian. She said that Vahé Barsoumian was born in Lebanon, but has lived in Europe, becoming acquainted with various international painting trends and styles. She also added that besides his painting talent, Barsoumian is an expert of art history and thus as an artist and intellectual, his contributions are diverse and significant.
Barsoumian closed the event with a short speech, thanking the Art Gallery’s leadership for offering him the opportunity to organize this exhibition in Lebanon, after a long absence.
She added that the Hamazkayin Armenian Educational and Cultural Society has always supported Armenian artists throughout its 85 years of history within the Armenian Diaspora. The productive work of the Lucy Tutunjian Art Gallery is one of the most remarkable evidences in this regard. She thanked the Art Gallery’s management and staff for offering their family the opportunity to sponsor this exhibition, as well as for supporting the work of established artists and for discovering new talents. She also wished Gago continued success.
The exhibition runs until 29 October 2013, every day from 9:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
