In his speech, Mr. Hagop Havatian, director of the Hamazkayin Lucy Tutunjian Art Gallery, talked about this year’s events and initiatives of the Art Gallery, stressing that this year the Gallery welcomed a wide range of Lebanese Armenian and non-Armenian artists. The Art Gallery also hosted the exhibitions of works by artists from Armenia, and organized an exhibition in honor of the late renowned Armenian artist Shart. In July, the Hamazkayin Art Gallery participated in the Beirut Art Fair, an international exhibition of art galleries held in BIEL. In September, the Art Gallery organized a collective exhibition in Zein Villa, downtown Beirut, under the high patronage of H.E. Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati. Titled “Lipanan” (meaning Lebanon in Armenian), the exhibition featured the works of 36 Lebanese-Armenian, Lebanese, and Armenian artists.
Havatian thanked the members of the Art Gallery’s committee, who throughout the year supported the planning and implementation of the Gallery’s various initiatives, as well as all the Armenian and Lebanese artists, who continued collaborating with the Gallery. Havatian also extended his gratitude to Lebanese and Armenian art lovers, who encouraged the Art Gallery’s operation with their continuous presence and support.
Next, Havatian presented the four artists who are participating in the latest collective exhibition, wishing them continued success. The collective exhibition, which features 28 paintings and five sculptures, runs until 10 January 2013, every day from 9:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. (except Sundays).
