Art gallery representative, Ms. Grace Lojikian, welcomed the artist’s presence in Lebanon. In her opening speech, she stated that even though we are living in dire straits, Hamazkayin “Lucy Tutunjian” Art Gallery tries to bring peace, beauty and hope in a bright future through art in opposition to today’s barbarism and inhumanity. She also said that this exhibition tries to merge beauty and intelligence to bring joy to our lives. After introducing the artist and speaking of her works at display during this exhibition, she thanked the sponsor of this event Minister Elias Bou Saab who, as she said, has always encouraged and supported cultural initiatives.
Artist Anna Shahnazarian, in her word, first thanked for the hospitality. Then, she said that that her works are a mirror of her inner world and emotions which she hopes to convey to the heart and soul of every viewer of her art; that is what brings her ultimate joy and satisfaction.
Art Gallery director Mr. Hagop Havatian presented an Award Plaque to Minister Elias Bou Saab who thanked the Gallery for giving him this opportunity. The minister mentioned the importance of such initiatives as he admired the exhibition. He deemed the infectious atmosphere of the Lebanese-Armenian collaboration in art a necessity, and he expressed the hope that this collaboration will develop and prosper. The minister also talked about his close ties with the Armenian community and in this sense, expressed his feeling of gratitude.
The exhibition which includes 36 oil paintings of various sizes will continue until November 10, 2014 every weekday from 9:30 a.m. till 7:00 p.m and on Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. till 6:00 p.m.
