Collective exhibition: LIPANAN at Villa Zein

Under the high patronage of His Excellency Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati, the Hamazkayin Lucy Tutunjian Art Gallery organized a collective exhibition titled “Lipanan” (meaning Lebanon in Armenian), featuring the paintings and sculptures of 36 Lebanese-Armenian, Lebanese, and Armenian artists.

The opening of the exhibition took place on 6 September 2012, at 7:00 p.m., in Zein Villa, downtown Beirut. The event was attended by numerous artists, art critics, art lovers, political figures, and representatives of various organizations.

The welcome speech was given by Mary Tcholoyan who said that in the past three years, the Hamazkayin Lucy Tutunjian Art Gallery has organized exhibitions of works by renowned Armenian, Lebanese, and foreign artists. The Gallery continues its work with great success, despite the security problems in the region.

Tcholoyan expressed hope that such initiatives would be repeated in the future in order to bring together Lebanese artists and to help celebrate and advance Lebanese art.

Next, Mr. Hagop Havatian, director of the Hamazkayin Lucy Tutunjian Art Gallery, said that this collective exhibition is an opportunity to showcase Beirut’s important role in the development of cultural heritage and various art forms. He added that Lebanese people have to preserve the country’s cultural treasures.

Havatian thanked Prime Minister Mikati for agreeing to sponsor this exhibition. Quoting the Prime Minister’s words that all of us have to work for the homeland, Havatian affirmed that Armenians have at all times followed this path.

Following Havatian’s speech, the president of the Art Gallery’s committee, Sarkis Armenian, handed a souvenir-plaque to the Prime Minister. On this occasion, Mikati highly praised the work of the Hamazkayin Lucy Tutunjian Art Gallery, which promotes the work of young and established artists, serves as a bridge between various cultures, and contributes to the advancement of the arts in Lebanon.

Mikati stated that art is the best means to create and improve relations between cultures in the present difficult situation in the country. He added that as long as such events are organized, the country’s future is safe and it is possible to overcome the difficulties.

At the entrance of the exhibition hall, students from the Hamazkayin Parsegh Ganatchian College of Music gave some presentations. First, the group of guitarists led by Megerdich Mikayelian presented some pieces, followed by duduk players Hagop Kelougian and Misak Der Sarkisian. At the end, violinists Marineh Haladjian and Talar Manjian presented classical pieces.

The exhibition runs until 16 September 2012, from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m.

Համազգայինի “Լիւսի Թիւթիւնճեան” ցուցասրահին կազմակերպած եւ վարչապետ Նեժիպ Միքաթիի հովանաւորութիւնը վայելող “Լիբանան” խորագիրը կրող ցուցահանդէսը, որուն մասնակցեցան 36 արուեստագէտներ, արժանացաւ լիբանանեան մամուլին գովաբանութեան: Լիբանանեան գրեթէ բոլոր թերթերուն մէջ լոյս տեսան ցուցահանդէսին մասին դրական յօդուածներ եւ դրուատիք` կատարուած աշխատանքին համար: Այդ հրատարակութիւններէն կը կեդրոնանանք հիմնական երկու յօդուածներու վրայ, նկատի ունենալով, որ անոնք բաւական ամբողջական եւ համապարփակ ձեւով ներկայացուցած են “Վիլլա Զէյն”-ի մէջ տեղի ունեցած իւրայատուկ այս ցուցահանդէսը:
