Zaven & Daria HADICHIAN Exhibition 
Around 60 of Renowned sculptor Zaven Hadichian’s latest sculptures and his daughter Daria’s paintings on exhibit at the Hamazkayin Art Gallery.

The opening of the exhibition of works by well-known Lebanese-Armenian artist Zaven Hadichian and his daughter Daria, took place on April 8, 2010, at 6:30 p.m., at the Hamazkayin Lucy Tutunjian Art Gallery.The event was attended by Gomidas Archbishop Ohanian, the representative of the Catholicos of the Holy See of Cilicia of the Armenian Orthodox Church Aram I; Armenian Church leaders; current and former MPs; Bourj Hammoud Mayor Antranik Meserlian; representatives of cultural associations; and numerous artists and art lovers.

The opening speech was given by artist Missak Terzian, member of the Hamazkayin Lucy Tutunjian Art Gallery’s Advisory Committee. He said that Zaven Hadichian occupies an important position in the field of Lebanese plastic arts, because his works are characterized by their unique approach.

Next, Terzian presented Hadichian’s biography, saying that Hadichian’s sculptures have been exhibited in various public places around the world. Terzian also listed the awards and certificates of praise received by Hadichian.

In his conclusion, Terzian said: “Today, Zaven Hadichian presents us his latest sculptures, which are superbly related to his daughter Daria’s paintings.

The next speaker was Hagop Havatian, director of the Hamazkayin Lucy Tutunjian Art Gallery and of the Hamazkayin “Vahe Setian” Printing and Publishing House. He said that Hadichian continues to carve the following in the memory of subsequent generations: Armenian people’s spirit of struggle, national existence and survival, and confident ride toward the future.

Havatian emphasized that Hadichian is not a regular sculptor; he has built his own way where you find his unique spirit and understanding of life.

Next, Havatian asked Sarkis Armenian, a member of Hamazkayin’s Central Committee, to grant Hadichian the Hamazkayin High Award in recognition of his long years of achievements.

In his turn, Hadichian congratulated benefactor Lucy Tutunjian. At the same time, he emphasized that the Hamazkayin gallery named after Tutunjian is not only an exhibition hall for artists, but also a meeting place for art lovers.

The exhibition, which features around 60 sculptures and paintings with various themes, will run until April 19, 2010, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
