Ashot Avagyan

Born in 1958 in Sisian, Armenia. He graduated in 1981from the College of Fine Arts after P.
Terlemezyan in Yerevan, Armenia. Since graduating, he has been teaching at the Children’s Art
School of Sisian.
Taking the cultural heritage of the area he lives in as a standing point, the artist seeks for
new perspectives of perception of the world in his works.
He transposes the conceptual and artistic prospects from Neolithic petroglyphs to Middle
Age iconography from the surface of canvas into other forms of modern arts, reflecting them
in the context of performance and land-art.
He has participated in a number of personal and collective exhibitions worldwide.
